Hanging Out on the Best Coast

Happy Fourth of July!

We're here in Bremerton, just on the other side of the sound from Seattle. We arrived on Monday afternoon and started our whirlwind tour of houses early Tuesday morning. After looking at several, both new and old, we decided to put an offer on a cozy place in Port Orchard. Lucky for us, the sellers agreed to our offer and we're just waiting for a home inspection on Sunday. So, if everything's ok, we'll be buying a new house! Not bad for only a few days of looking...

The place is a 4-bed/2.5 bath home at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac—about 10 minutes away from Brady's work. It's around 1800 square feet—larger than our condo, and just big enough for our little family... family room off the kitchen, an office for me, and a room for guests (hint, hint). The yard is great—already landscaped with a nice deck and a vegetable garden in the back. It's going to take a little getting used to living in the 'burbs... but it's close enough to the little downtown harbor and the Seattle ferry, so I won't feel entirely secluded.

We have been enjoying our time with Brady's parents. Ella sure has been having fun—swimming in the hotel pool, going to the fountain park nearby and just hanging around with grandma and grandpa. The weather has been beautiful (BEAUTIFUL!)—it's going to be difficult to go back to the DC humidity. Luckily, it will only be temporary.

Today, we ventured to Bainbridge Island for their 4th of July festivities. What a great place—very family friendly, gorgeous views of Seattle, and probably very expensive. We went for the parade, and ended up just walking around the downtown for a bit. Ella went on her first pony ride and liked it very much. She was very grown up about the whole thing and didn't make a fuss when she got on. She even thanked the pony and his owner when the ride was over :-)

We're hoping to get into Seattle tomorrow... or at least one day before we have to leave. More to come... until then, enjoy some photos>
