Goings On

Just a little update...
Our trip to Montana was quite lovely. It was way too short - but aren't most vacations. Ella was very good considering that she got her first tooth the day before we flew and her second tooth while we were traveling. She cried more than usual and slept poorly (meaning I slept even worse) for the first half of the trip. After that, she was her normal cheerful self. Now she has two very cute teeth... and seems to be getting more! But, in getting her little biters, we discovered that she LOVES teething biscuits. They are the BEST THING EVER!

Ella is also semi-crawling... backwards, anyway. And counterclockwise. She's got it down and is quite mobile, but kinda meanders rather than going straight ahead with determination. It's a bit frustrating for her, but I am in no hurry. No hurry at all. She can take all the time she needs. But, it is evident that our house is still not baby-friendly. A few days ago, I left her on the living room floor for a few seconds and came back to find that she had discovered an open ballpoint pen under the couch. And apparently, she knew what to do with it. Ella drew herself a little mustache and a few squiggles here and there for me to find throughout the day. She was pretty happy with herself... until I laughed at her. That made her cry. Hard. She's a bit sensitive and has a tendency to overreact :-)

The next new development is Ella's ability to say "mama", or something like it... especially when she's mad. It's as if I'm to blame for all of her troubles, and it also seems that I'm the only one that can solve them. She's started to show a bit of separation anxiety and likes me to be within arm's reach most of the time. Sometimes she just wants me to hold her hand. It's very sweet, but I hope this will pass. It makes me feel guilty for not being with her ALL the time. But I can't and it's best that she interacts with others as much as possible - for everyone's sake. I enjoy my days at home with her, but every once in a while I need some adult conversation.

Until next time...
