12.5 weeks

Hola.
Just a quick update...

I went to my 12 week appointment this morning. And after waiting for 45 minutes for the OB/GYN to show up (it was only 8:30 am!!!), I got less than five minutes with her. I heard the heartbeat and everything seems to be ok. I've lost a few pounds since the last visit, but have gained a couple overall (most likely all in my boobs.)

I am definitely switching to a midwife. I had planned to anyway, but today's visit definitely confirmed my need for a more personal experience. That, and I finally watched The Business of Being Born. Boy oh boy, do we have things backwards in this country. Surprise, surprise. Luckily, there are midwives in the same practice and it should still be covered by our insurance (and ALL maternity care is covered at no cost to us on our insurance.)

After a few weeks on Zofran, I finally decided to get away from that stuff. I stopped puking for three days—that was it. And it made me horribly constipated. I'll take nausea/vomiting without additional gastrointestinal distress, thank you. So yes, I'm still sick. But hopefully not for much longer—I start my second trimester next week!

Brady and I are headed to DC this Friday. Ella is spending almost two weeks in Montana with family. I miss her already, but I'm sure it's good for all of us. More soon!
