Ella's First Race

This weekend, Ella ran in her first race—a 20-yard dash that took place after my 5k in Port Orchard. She was the youngest to enter and ended up running with the 4-year-olds, but she LOVED it. We were so proud :-)

Megan's Wedding

I'm on my way home from a lovely weekend in South Lake Tahoe for my friend Megan's wedding. I've uploaded more pictures here... with LOTS more to come!

Our Garden

Created with Admarket's flickrSLiDR.

What exactly would you say you do here?

Whoa! I feel like every time I decide to write a serious post, I have to begin it with something like, "Things have been really hectic here." But it's the truth. Just when I think they're going to settle down, more "stuff" pops up. This time, it has been work. I have gotten no less than six new clients this month. SIX. Six I have never worked with before—all with similar timelines for their projects, surprisingly :-)

What this means for me is lots of interesting projects. And a lot less time for myself. I really enjoy the work. Really, really. I work better when I have more on my plate. It just means less photos of Ella, less blog posts, and more time sitting on my butt in front of the computer. Fortunately, I'm preparing to leave for a short vacation to Lake Tahoe... beginning tomorrow morning. I will, of course, be taking my computer. I will also be taking my new favorite gadget—my iPhone. That thing is FA-BU-LO-US. It can do anything, well just about (anyone have an app out there that will fold my laundry?). I decided that it was time to finally get a business phone—especially after spending three hours on conference calls last Tuesday. So now I'm never without e-mail, a very scary thought. I'll try not to let it get out of hand.

Ella is still Ella. She's a sassypants, has an unbelievable amount of curly hair, and likes telling knock knock jokes. She's out of her crib and sleeping in a big girl bed. She's obsessed with being big. If you call her a little girl, you will feel her wrath. I do not recommend it.

I think she's the cutest thing ever. And just when I think she can't get any cuter—she does. It must be exhausting for her. Last night, I asked her if she wanted to help me vacuum for a minute. This is what she said, "No. You can do it yourself. I'm busy. I'm playing with chalk." I guess she told me :-)

Where does she get these ideas?

Driving home from daycare today...

Ella: "Mama. You need to call my doctor and tell her I'm not coming because I don't like her."

Me: laughing

Ella: "It's NOT funny!"

Me: "Yes it is."

Ella: "It's NOT funny because it's NOT funny!!!"

Funny.

And no, Ella does not have a doctor's appointment anytime soon (nor has she seen her Dr. since her 2 1/2 year checkup)... silly!

Return of Mad Face

Ella was a bit crabby when I went to pick her up from daycare yesterday. I think the heat (90 degrees!) was getting to her a bit. So, while we're driving home, she says to me, "Mommy. Look at my face." So I look at her in the mirror, not wanting to have to turn around. Ella says, "No. Turn around. Look at my face." So I take a quick glance at Ella giving me the stink eye and she says, "My face isn't happy. I'm not happy."

Oh boy.
